IN NEW QUARTERS

V USEFUL sort is Our Nancy, a-x- but the Opunake-trained mare must feel the surface solid under her feet before she can unwind the speed spool. It was not surprising, then, to find Nancy all at sea on Monday at Epsom. W. Fleming did not take the daughter of Our Thorpe—Nancy Patch back to Taranaki, and the mare is now domiciled at Claudelands under the care of Fred Smith, who leased her. Our Nancy is a well-seasoned mare, level-headed and endowed with a rare turn of speed, as she demonstrated at Wanganui when she captured the saddle double. She is a classy mare with the weight on top, but when conditions are suitable she can also tramp to some tune in the sulky. Smithie should be in the picture next season with this pacer.
