FIRE IN KITCHEN

FOUND ON RETURN FROM THEATRE When Mrs. G. Shilton, of 21 Highwic Avenue, One Tree Hill, returned home from the pictures at 11 p.m. last evening, she found the house full of smoke. The Remuera brigade was summoned immediately, and the fire was caught in its early stage. The house, a four-roomed bungalow owned by the Rev. Mr. Campbell, of Masterton, was left unoccupied for the evening, and, from an examination made by the firemen, it appears that burning embers from the kitchen stove fell on the floor. A nearby door also caught fire, and was burned off Its binges. The brigadesmen arrived in time to prevent further damage. The house is insured for £SOO and the Atlas Company holds a £75 policy on the contents.
