ALL PARTIES HAPPY
UNITEDS’ CONFIDENCE IN LEADER NO CAUCUS “INCIDENTS” (THE! SUN’S Parliamentary Reporter) PARLIAMENT BLDGS.; Today. No “incidents” marred the success of the party caucuses held yesterday afternoon. Harmony marked the meeting of members of the United Party, and all little differences were smoothed out, and the following resolution carried: “This meeting of members of the United Party desires to express its entire confidence in its leader, Sir Joseph Ward, and the Ministers associated with him, and feels certain that when the work of the session is completed the country will realise that the Government is fulfilling its pledges, and that it is being well served by the Government and its supporters.” The motion was carried unanimously, and the gathering ended with cheers for the Prime Minister, and the singing of “For He’s a Jolly Good Fellow.” The Reform Party also met in caucus, but the Right Hon. J. G. Coates had no statement to make to the Press at its conclusion. He declined to discuss the question as to whether the official Opposition would move an amendment to the Address-in-Reply debate. His answer, given with a smile, was “Wait and see.” The Labour Party also held a caucus, which dealt mainly with routine matters. Motions of sympathy with those who had suffered in the West Coast earthquakes, and in the tornado at Palmerston North, were carried, and it was decided to send a cablegram of congratulation to the Right Hon. Ramsay MacDonald on the British Labour Party’s accession to power.
