RIALTO AND REGENT, EPSOM

“THE SHAKEDOWN” A stirring tale of the prize ring and oilfields, “The Shakedown,” with James Murray and Barbara Kent in the leading roles, is now at the Rialto and Regent, Epsom, Theatres. The picture has for its theme the age-old ruse of unscrupulous prize fight promoters of faked fights staged for the express intention of collecting a money bet on the local “white hope.” “The Shakedown" gives a vivid and authentic account of some of the evil machinations employed by “ring racketeers.” Supporting James Murray and Barbara Kent are George Kotsonaros, Wheeler Oakman and Harry Gribbon. Kotsonaros portrays the role of a topnotch though beetle-browed _ light-heavy-weight, while Oakman is seen as the unscrupulous manager. “The Case of Lena Smith.” which will also be shown, is an unusually interesting story of the prince and beggar girl type. Esther Ralston is seen as an Austrian peasant girl and Jam=s Hall as a dashing Viennese cavalry officer.
