Obituary
MRS. F. A. DAVIS The death has occurred in Auckland of Mrs. Frances Anne Davis, widow of the late Mr. James Davis, formerly of Waimate, at the age of 83.. Arriving at Auckland from London in the ship Zealandla in 18S1 she married Mr. Davis two years later. Mr. Davis, who was an interpreter on the staff of the Land Court, died in Gisborne in 1889. Since his death Mrs. Davis had lived in Auckland. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Marianne Thomson, of Auckland. MRS. L. C. STEEDMAN Mrs. Lillius Clarke Steedman, widow of the late Mr. James Bramwell Steedman, died in Auckland vesterday at the age of 91. Coming to Auckland at the age of 20 Mrs. Steedman went to Thames soon after the opening of the goldfield, where Mr.. Steedman was a mine manager. She had lived either on the goldfields or in Auckland ever since. Mrs. Steedman leaves a son, Mr. .T. D. Steedman. of Whangarei, and three daughters, Mrs. J. G. Ralph, Mrs. W. Fraser, and Mrs. R. B. Hudson. of Thames.
