TREES UPROOTED CYCLONE NEAR ROTORUA (Prom Our Own Correspondent) ROTORUA, Today. A severe thunderstorm swept over Rotorua at noon. A cyclone at Tarukenga at 12.30 uprooted 16 trees, overturned a house and jigger shed, and three iron telephone posts. LINE INTERRUPTION WHANGAREI AFFECTED (Special to TUB SUN) WHANGAREI, Thursday. The telegraph service between Whangarei and Auckland was interrupted today by a severe storm. From 11 a.m. to 1.30, only partial communication was possible, and for half an hour the whole service was disorganised. LIGHTNING STRIKES POLES (Special to THE SUN) TAUPO, Thursday. Five telegraph poles were smashed by lightning during a severe storm which passed over Taupo this morning, disorganising telegraphic services south of Taupo. A large blowhole on the slopes of Mount Tongariro has been very active during the past week.
