CLOSE ELECTION
DOUBLE TIE AT THAMES HAT DECIDES VICTOR Press Association THAMES, Wednesday. The sequel to the Thames county election was the declaration by the returning: officer today that Mr. CoryWright was elected for the Tairua riding. An election was held early in May, and resulted in Mr. Cory-Wright and Mr. Prescott being equal. There were two declaration votes, of which one went back to each candidate, but, there being some doubt as to the validity of these, Mr. Corv-Wright resigned, and another poll was taken. This showed the voting to be Cory-Wright 27, Prescott 26, ar\d four declarations. When the latter were opened, three were informal, and one was for Air. Prescott, making another tie. Today, in the presence of the county chairman and representatives of both candidates, the returning officer placed the names in a hat, and drew Air. Cory-Wright’s, and declared him elected.
