OPOTIKI BOROUGH COUNCIL
In connection with the distribution of heavy traffic fees the Minister of Public Works advised the Opotiki Borough Council on Tuesday evening that he would give favourable consideration to the request that a grant o! £SOO be reinstated on the estimates. Cr. AY. Burrett was unanimously reappointed deputy-mayor. The Finance Committee presented estimates of receipts and expenditure during the ensuing year. The total rate amounts to nearly 7d in the £l. The.council is involved in considerable additional expenditure in connection with the Fire Board and Hospital Board. The committee recommended that the council should investigate the advisability or otherwise of raising a loan for permanent street improvements.
