PRIME SHEEP IMPROVE MORE LAMBS OFFERED L-ast week’s rates were easily maintained at the weekly fat stock sale at Westfield yesterday, a feature being the presence of several choice lines of cattle. All pennings of prime sheep improved in value, wethers attracting attention. Ewes, however, eased in value. Quality was good in a usual yarding of ox beef. Larger numbers of lambs improved in value. Values were firm for a large yarding ot pigs and fat calves—runners and vealers—sold under keen competition. Heavy prime steers from Estate realised up to £ls 2s 6d, being bought by Couper and Parkes, butchers, who also secured heavy prime steers at £ls from Trewin Brothers. The Auckland Meat Company bought bullocks from Mr. Frank Orr, Kaikohe, at £ll to £ls 15s. Mr. W. G. McAnulty, of Otahuhu, bought King Country prime bullocks up to £l4.

Mr. Thomas Baster, of Ponsonby Road, bought extra heavy prime steers from Mr. IV. Vosper, Cambridge, at £l6 ss. Other steers offered by Alfred Buckland and Sons bought up to 15 guineas. The highest averages for steers were: Seven from Mr. C. E. Sampson, Waerenga, £ls 11s sdf 14 from Mr. W. C. Ring, Hinuera, £l4 19s 3d; 24 from Mr. W. Vosper. Cambridge, £l4 18s 9d; 15 from Messrs. The yarding of dairy cattle was exceptionally heavy, with keen competition. Market values were well up to standard and the whole of the heavy yarding was disposed of at good prices.
