SOUTH INTO THE FOG
KOBENHAVN DID PASS TRISTAN ISLANDS MAST BROKEN, FEW SAILS (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) Reed. 9 a.m. COPENHAGEN, Wed. The captain of the search steamer Mexico, who sent a wireless message saying he found on July 23 traces of a camp on Gough Island, one of the Tristan da Cunha group of islands, but no trace of the missing sailer Kobenhavn, has now cabled reporting that it has been established that the Kobenhavn passed Tristan da Cunha on January 21, presumably damaged. One mast was broken and only a few sails set. The ship was low in the water. It proceeded southward and disappeared in the fog. The island inhabitants searched but found no wreckage. The Mexico is continuing the search. Another search vessel, the motorship Lars Riisdahl, a wooden auxiliary screw steamer of 143 tons, will join in the search.
