BEST AUSTRALIAN TEAM

HOCKEY PLAYERS’ VISIT TOUR NEXT MONTH Press Association CHRISTCHURCH, Today. The manager of the Australian hockey team has written to the New Zealand Hockey Association stating that the team selected to tour New Zealand is the best that could be secured. It was quite possible that the team would be sent to Fiji in August, and it would be possible to include a few New Zealand players if the Dominion Hockey Association so desired. Mr. Rothweli made it plain that the authorities on the other side desire that the tour should be arranged for the purpose of playing hockey, and has expressed the wish that tourist resorts should be left out of the itinerary. Fifty-four nominations of players have been received from New Zealand centres for the first test team, and 43 for the second.
