TRAINING TEACHERS
GRAMMAR HEADS OPPOSE PROPOSAL REPORT TO BOARD /CONTENDING that the proposal that intending secondary school teachers should receive practical training in the secondary schools of Auckland would interfere with the curriculum, the principals of the five Grammar Schools in the city recently decided to oppose the proposal. The Department of Education has since written to the Auckland Grammar Schools Board stating that the principals of other schools agreed to the proposal, and asked for further consideration.
The Grammar Schools’ Board, at its meeting yesterday afternoon, decided to leave the question in the hands of its chairman, Professor A. P. W. Thomas, and Mr. H. J. D. Mahon, for further consideration.
