PLENTY OF COAL

POSITION AT DUNEDIN JPress Association DUNEDIN, Wednesday. Inquiries made in Dunedin as to stocks of coal led to the statement that there was plenty of household coal in hand, and untold quantities of bituminous coal were available if the miners would keep on working. The supply was limited, but the Kaitangata and Southland mines were putting out large quantities from reserves that were calculated to last for a long while. One of the leading coal merchants, who vouched for the above statement, added: —“Otago and Southland ought to be sincerely grateful for being in this happy position while other districts seem likely to suffer. It would be quite fitting if our people showed their gratitude by ordering freely from our own resources.”
