A BUSY CENTRE

TAURING the past four or five years the average number of horses trained at Takanini has been 38. Last month, however, this was increased to 62, with a prospect of a bigger muster in the near future. This shows what an important centre Takanini is for training purposes. Several outside trainers have expressed the wish trf set up at Takanini, but finance is the stumbling block, particularly in cases where mentors have permanent stables at their present quarters. Very few horses are now being trained at Ellerslie and Avondale, the tendency being to make for Takanini. Not only Auckland trainers, but others from Taranaki and Hawke’s Bay have their eyes on Takanini.
