AESTHETIC TASTE

OLD DOCK SITE BUILDINGS Prom.oi.ion of a spirit of aestheticism in place of colourless utilitarianism in buildings to be erected on leases of sections on the old dock site, is tbe aim of the Auckland Town Planning Association. The association petitioned the Harbour Board yesterday to insert a provision in all leases of the old dock site to control the design of buildings so that the suggested lay-out and the structures behind might be an architectural entity of dignity and beauty. It was further asked that an area be set aside for architectural treatment as an “open space.”

The matter was referred to the board in committee.
