MOUNT ALBERT RATES

INCREASE ON LAST YEAR Increased rates were struck at a meeting of the Mount Albert Borough Council last evening. The rates for the ensuing year are: General rate, 13-120 d in £i; lighting, 2d in £1; hospital and charitable aid rate, 91-100 din £1; Auckland and suburban drainage rate, 9-20 d in £1; non-consumers’ water, 3-8 d in £i. All rates are levied on the unimproved value of all rateable property. A letter was received from the Auckland Rugby League applying for a playing ground. It was decided that the application be taken into consideration when the grounds were ready. An application from the Auckland Harbour Bridge Association for a donation to its funds was declined. The building inspector reported that 34 permits to a total value of £11.270 2s lor the erection of dwelling and other buildings had been issued. #
