FIRE AT MINE
DAMAGE TO SCREENING PLANT • OUTBREAK AT ROTOWARO (From Our Own Correspondent) HTJNTLY, Today. Fire broke out about 10 o’clock last night in the screening plant of the Taupiri Coal Company's mine at Rotowaro.
The origin of the outbreak is believed to be due to a spark from a locomotive.
The fire was extiuguished and Mr. John Watson, general manager, and his staff were promptly at work with a large gang effecting temporary repairs.
The high wind brought down the supporting stays and destroyed the belts. The- approximate damage is about £4OO, which is covered by insurance in the New Zealand office.
