“WILL STAND OR FALL”
FEDERAL GOVERNMENT PINS COLOURS TO MAST ARBITRATION ABOLITION Reed. 9.35 a.m. SYDNEY, Today. The Federal Minister of Trades and Customs, Mr. H. S. Gullett, made a statement that the Federal Government would stand or fall by its decision to abolish the Arbitration Court, whose awards had been flagrantly flouted by sections of the workers. He added: “We must have a great efficiency drive from top to bottom, to escape one of the worst depressions Australia has known. I would like to see the return of the 48-hour week and the establishment of piecework.”
