Dr. C. J. Reakes, Director-General of Agriculture, arrived from Wellington this morning and left Inter for Whangarci to attend the Dairy Association’s confcrene.
Professor W. Riddet, of the Massey Agricultural College, arrived from Palmerston North by the Limited this morning.
Dr. W. H. Pettit, of Auckland, is the suest of the Rev. F. A. Crawshaw and Mrs. Crawshaw, of Milverton Avenue Palmerston North.
The Hon. J. B. Gow, M.L.C., and Messrs. C. 11. Clinkard, M.P., and F. Lye, M.P., wero passengers for Wellington last evening on the Limited.
Major Lyon and Sergt.-Major Varrell, Ist Battery New Zealand Expeditionary Forces, who are visiting. Auckland on the occasion of the battery reunion on Thursday night, are guests of Mr. Fred V. Horne at the Albion Hotel.
Dr. H. D. A. Major, principal of Ripon Hall, Oxford, and a leading English Modernist, will preach at the opening of the Waikato Synod next Monday. Dr. Major was formerly a St. John’s College student and vicar of Hamilton from 1899 to 1902. Mr. A. H. Cockayne, director of the Fields Division of the Department of Agriculture since May, 1923, was today appointed Assistant-Director-General of Agriculture in succession to Mr. F. S. Pope, who recently retired on superannuation. Professor H. Belshaw. Professor of Economics at the Auckland University College, has been appointed a .Vew Zealand delegate to the conference of the Institute of Pacific Relations in Tokyo next November.
