WAIKOUAITI SAILS TODAY. The Union Steam Ship Company announces that the Waikouaiti is to leave for Newcastle direct at 10 o’clock this evening. WAIPAHI SAILS MONDAY.—To load again for Auckland, the Union Company’s Island fruit steamer Waipahi is now announced to sail on Monday next. Calls are to be made at Rarotonga, Aitutaki, Atiu, Mauke and Mangaia, in that order. WAITEMATA REPORTS. Wireless advice from the Union Company’s transpacific steamer Waitemata states she will reach Auckland from Los Angeles on Friday morning. She has cargo from Pacific Coast ports for discharge at Auckland, Wellington, Melbourne and Sydney. TASMANIAN TRANSPORT SAILS TODAY.—Messrs. Henderson and Macfarlane advise that the Tasmanian Transport is to be dispatched at 4 p.m. this afternoon for New Plymouth and Wanganui to complete discharging her cargo of Ocean Island phosphates. H.M.S. LABURNUM AT SUVA.— H.M.S. Laburnum reached Suva from Auckland on Sunday. The warship is on a four months’ cruise to the South Sea Islands. According to her itinerary she will be at Suva for a week before she proceeds to Ocean Island, her next port of call.
, THE CANADIAN SCOTTISH. The local office of the Canadian National Steamship has received advice that the Canadian Scottish was dispatched from Montreal on June 1 with general merchandise for discharge at Auckland and Australian ports. She is due at Auckland about July 15. HE rtford LEAVES LIVERPOOL.— With cargo from West Coast ports of Great Britain the Federal Line steamer Hertford was dispatched from Liverpool for New Zealand last Saturday. The vessel's discharging ports are Auckland, Napier, Wellington, Lyttleton and Port Chalmers. She is due at Auckland on July 00. The New Zealand Shipping Company is the local agent. ORKANGER DUE TON IGHT.—-The Norwegian motor-tanker Orkanger has sent ua-dio advice that she will arrive m port at 6 p.m. this evening from Los Angeles. The vessel will not berth at Western Wharf until tomorrow morning • l l e to discharged a quantity of oil into the Atlantic Union Oil Company’s tanks and is then to be dispatched for Wellington, Sydney and Melbourne to continue unloading.

Lvttelton and Dunedin After discharge in the South the vessel is scheduled to load tor her Homeward voyage at Port Chal- *\, P 1 Uff ’ Timaru, Lyttelton and Wellington. She is to be dispatched finally from Wellington for England on August 2. The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company is the local agent.
THE CITY OF BATAVIA.—The A. and A. Line s chartered steamer City of Batavia arrived from New York yesterday afternoon and berthed at Prince’s Wharf to unload case oil and general merchandise for Auckland to the agency of the New Zealand Shipping Company. is expected to sail for Lyttelton, Wellington and Dunedin on Thursday to complete discharge. The vessel was at Auckland last September. On her present voyage she sailed from New’ York on May 17. Generally fair weather prevailed until the vessel was south of Pitcairn Island, afterwards continuous westerly gales and high seas, which were encountered, impeded the vessel’s progress considerably and delayed her arrival by about three days. Captain H. E. Nancollas is in command, and he has with him the following officers:—Chief, Mr. B. W. Ross; second, Mr. L. P. Marshall; third, Mr. R. Wheeler; chief engineer, Mr. T. Terris; second, Mr. J. Brown; third, Mr. J. Mitchell; fourth, Mr. J. Carlisle; fifth, Mr. H. Marsay; chief steward, Mr. E. Manning.
WAIRUNA FOR VANCOUVER.—The Union Steam Ship Company’s vessel Wairuna undocked this morning and went to Western Wharf. She is to be dispatched for Vancouver direct tomorrow evening. CRUISER EMDEN ARRIVES.—At 8.20 o’clock this morning the German cruiser Emden arrived in the stream at Auckland from Thursday Island and dropped anchor. She is to go Into dock at 2.30 p.m. today for overhaul and painting. She is expected to remain in dock until the end of the week. PORT GISBORNE AT COLON.—En route from New York to Auckland. Wellington, Lyttelton and Dunedin the Commonwealth and Dominion Line motorship Port Gisborne is reported to have reached Colon last Friday. She is scheduled to reach Auckland on July 16. The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company is the local agent.
HURUNUI ARRIVES TOMORROW.— "Wireless advice from the Hurunui states that she expects to reach Auckland from London, via Suva, at 4 p.m. tomorrow. She is to berth at Queen’s Wharf. After the local portion of her cargo has been unloaded, the New Zealand Shipping Company will be dispatching her for Wellington and New Plymouth to complete. CITY OF BATAVIA SAILS FRIDAY.— Advice from the New Zealand Shipping Company states that the Ellerman-Buck-nall steamer City of Batavia, at present discharging cargo from New York at Prince’s Wharf, will probably be dispatched for Wellington on Friday to continue unloading. From the capital she proceeds to Lyttelton and Dunedin to complete.
CUMBERLAND IN PORT.—With a full cargo of general merchandise from West Coast ports of the United Kingdom, the Federal Steam Navigation Company’s steamer Cumberland arrived in the stream at Auckland at half-past 11 this morning. The vessel berthed at Queen’s Wharf early this afternoon, where she is to discharge the local portion of her cargo. The Cumberland loaded at Glasgow and Liverpool. She cleared Glasgow on May 4 and Liverpool on May 11. After a good passage across the Atlantic, the vessel called at Curacao on May 25. The local agents for the Cumberland, the New Zealand Shipping Company, advise that she is to be dispatched for Wellington, Lyttelton, Timaru, Port Chalmers, and Bluff afer putting out the Auckland portion of her cargo. BRAND WITH HARDWOOD. The Norwegian motor-ship Brand arrived in the stream at 11.30 p.m. yesterday from Bunbury, Western Australia, and berthed at King’s Wharf at 8.30 o’clock this morning. She has a cargo of hardwood which she loaded at Busselton and Bunbury. The latter port was cleared at 11 p.m. on June 11. and a direct passage was made to Auckland. Following westerly and south-westerly gales were experienced on the trip, which was otherwise fair. The Brand, which is under charter to G. J. Moore and Co., of San Francisco, was last in this port in July, 1927, when she was a new ship, having come off the stocks that year. Messrs. Russell and Somers are the local agents for the vessel, and after the Auckland portion of her cargo has been discharged she is to sail for Wellington, Lyttelton and Dunedin to complete. Her movements thereafter ai*e not yet known. The Brand is commanded by Captain L. J. Lindstol. WITHIN WIRELESS RANGE— The following vessels are expected to be within range of the undermentioned wireless stations tonight:— Auckland: Taranaki, Maui Pomare, Tofua, Golden West, Waitemata. Ampullaria. Hurunui. Chatham Islands: Port Dunedin, King Gruffydd, Remuera, Jonic. Wellington: Maori, Wahine, Ngaio, Arahura, Tamahine, Dunedin, Diomede, Flowergate, Maheno, Aelybryn, Ruapehu. Awarua: Tahiti, Maunganui, Kia Ora, Canadian Transporter, Tutanekai. PORT OF ONEHUNGA—ARRIVAL YESTERDAY THOMAS CURRELL (trawler), (4 p.m.), 204 tons, from Coast. Hokianga is to be dispatched from Onehunga at 3 p.m. tomorrow for Hokianga.
