MAJESTIC
“A SOUTH SEA BUBBLE” “A South Sea Bubble,” one of the two big attractions at the Majestic Theatre, is a “different” treasure hunt story. Roland Per twee's stories are always acceptable and this screen adaptation of one of his amusing yarns is full of the stuff of which entertaining pictu are made. Vernon W we, last descendant of a wicked oh. rate, for various reasons is in urgent need of money and induces a number of people to subscribe to a syndicate to search for the treasure. As an inducement he fakes a chart mellowed by age. An old philanthropist, scenting a swindle, attaches himself to the party, and the fun begins. Winslow e himself does not believe in the existence of the treasure, but it is found just the same. It is an entertaining story and an entertaining film. Ivor 2So\ello, complete with moustache grown lor the occasion, is the pirate’s descendant and leader of the expedition, and he is supported by Benita Hume and Annette Benson. , _ , Equally entertaining is the second feature, entitled “N’ot Quite Decent. Based on the story, “The Grouch Bag,” directed by Irving Cummings, and co-featuring June Collyer and Louise Dresser, the combination seems an unbeatable one. Miss Dresser enacts the lole ot Mame Jarrow, former big-time vaudeville headliner, who has reached the middle forties and is eking a livelihood as hall owner and chief entertainer in a, “speak-easy.” . , . . , Marne’s daughter, Linda, played by Miss Collyer, whom she has not seen since childhood, comes to the “speakeasy” in the toils of a designing man, and the mother, unknown to the girl, saves her by sacrificing every moral slired of her own reputation. The Majestic programme also includes an Eve’s Review, a magazine with news of the old world, a U.F.A. scientific picture, and new music by Mr. Whiteford Waugh’s orchestra.
