Piquant Marguerite Allan, in the role of the squire’s daughter, is a charm- : ing British actress, who enchants movie fans, and handsome William Freshman, as the boyish lover, will cause many feminine hearts to flutter The story concerns the Squire of Blackslade Mano r, a liberal-hearted dreamer, who, through neglect, finds his home, farms, and even his daughter’s heart, heavily mortgaged. A charming daughter, aided by a handsome lover, finds a way out of his financial difficulties, and obtain their complete happiness. “The Shakedown,” the second big feature, is a typically fast-moving American story of boxing and oil wells. | starring Barbara Kent and Jamer. j Murray. Paramount's first musical comedy talking picture, “The Cocoanuts.” ha* been completed at the Long Island studios of the organisation. The “Four Marx Brothers.’’ famous Broadway comedians, have the starring roles in the picture, and they are supported ! by a cast of Broadway musical com* | edy favourites headed by Mary Eaton. Charles Bogers plays five different wind instruments in the Paramount all-talking and singing picture. “Close Harmony,” which will be released shortly in Australia. "Nancy Carroll, in | the feminine lead, sings a number of | songs and talks.
