Glenstar May Next Race at Riccarton

TE AROHA TOPICS (Special to THE SUN) 'TE AROHA, Friday. If all goes well Te Arolia will be suitably represented in the next Takapuna Plate and Wynyard Plate. Those nominated, and which under ordinary circumstances should train on, are Golden Arch, Unique, Bert Hinkler, William of Orange, Belle Star, Lucky Alice, and Lady Nestor. King Lu has practically been retired from racing, and in due course his place will be taken up by King Win, Lady Mestor and Queen Arch have not been out on the tracks lately, but will resume work before long. Lady Mestor is by Pollymestor, whose progeny are generally considered to improve with age. Glenstar has been doing slow work on the training grounds lately, but the turf is not firm enough for him to show any pace. It is probable that he may be raced at the Grand National meeting, for the tracks at Ricacrton will be more to his liking than at Trentham. On conformation he should be a good weight carrier. At the last Thames meeting he carried 9.12 to victory in the Highweight Handicap, running the mile and a-quarter in 2.9 2-5, which was quite a decent performance. Mere Newcomers Trainer Lipsey has taken in hand a nicely grown brown filly by Marble Arch —Lacemaker, owned by a Waihou sportsman. At present she is in the breaking-in process, but will join the track brigade very soon. Lipsey will include a General Soult gelding in his team shortly. Marble King may run well at the Wellington meeting, as he can negotiate heavy going. By July his condition will be more forward than when he raced at Ellerslie this month. He is still being privately trained, and does his share of beneficial hill work at Ruakaka. During the wet weather the local horses are being given track tasks, but are not required to execute fast work. On Thursday morning a fair number were out. JUDGE APPOINTED MARTON JOCKEY CLUB Press Association WANGANUI, Friday. Mr. A. Tronson, Racing Editor of The Sun, Auckland, has been appointed judge for the spring meeting of Marton Jockey Club in place of Mr. R. H. Aldworth, who has resigned.
