It was, prior to the creation of the diocese, the Anglican Church of St. Peter's. It is hoped to add a spire to the tower and to extend the eastern end of the building. : : 1111 H 9 H BBSs r ST. JOHN’S, NAPIER contains the episcopal throne of the Bishop of Waiapu. It is interesting, also, in that the Bishop has, as suffragan, the first Maori Bishop of Aotearoa. m - SSHiM i FIRST CHURCH—Though not ranking as a Cathedral, First Church (Presbyterian) of Otago is worthy to be grouped in the cathedral class. This splendid building, a monument to the sturdy Presbyterians of the south, is strikingly situated on high land and is surrounded by spreading lawns and beautiful trees. At Right—ST. PAUL’S DUNEDIN The Anglican Cathedral in Dunedin is placed on an eminence overlooking the Octagon, in close proximity to the Town Hall. Within the handsome building is some magnificent mosaic work. The Cathedral stands in spacious grounds. PATRICK’S CATHEDRAL —In Wyndham within a few Hundred yards of the Heart of * e city, stands the Roman Catholic Cathedral. The portion of the Cathedral was completed in Ivßs # ft stands out prominently on Auckland s skv-line. THE CATHEDRAL CHURCH OF ST. MARY, which fronts Parnell Road, is one of the finest wooden church structures in the Dominion. Both in its exterior and interior there is beauty and mellow charm.
