Two More League Stars Approached

HUTT AND HALL OFFER FROM ST. HELENS A fresh stir was caused in League circles today when it became known that two more of Auckland’s most prominent players had been approached to play for an English club. The players are Lou Hutt, the crack Ponsonby forward, and Hall, of Newton, another prominent rep. player. It is understood that the offer came from

the St. Helens Club, which has secured Hardgrave’s services. Hutt is regarded as one of the best forwards in New Zealand. He played in all three Tests against the Englishmen last season. Hall is another representative player who has been one of the outstanding forwards in Auckland in the last year or two.

HARDGRAVE, TOO TAKING LEAGUE OFFER IN ENGLAND SMART THREEQUARTER R. Hardgrave, the Newton wingthreequarter, has decided to join up with the St. Helens Northern Union Club in England. After the rumours of offered conditions to Hardgrave, hie proposed departure will not altogether surprise League followers, but his loss to New Zea-

land will be regretted. Hardgrave is the smartest wing-three-quarter in his code in the Dominion. The terms offered by the St. Helens Club are stated to be liberal. The Aucklander will leave shortly to take part in the English championships

in the approaching season. Hardgrave is simply following the way of many New Zealanders, South Africans and Australians. Famous colonial footballers have succumbed to the Northern Union offers. English League clubs have also reaped a harvest among international Rugby players in Wales, England and Scotland. Irish players are the least tempted. New Zealanders who have been playing English League for two seasons past are L. Brown, B. Davidson, L. Mason, W. Wilson-Hall, J. Buckingham and W. Desmond. SOCIAL FOR FALWASSER Proud of the League offer to A. Falwasser, a member of Te Akarana Maori Association, the association is to give a farewell social at Onehunga early next month. This week, members passed a vote of thanks to the Maori player for his services in the association. Confidence was expressed in the hope that Falwasser would uphold in England the traditions of the Maori race.
