MEXICANS HAVE HOPES OF SETTLEMENT (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) (United Service) MEXICO, CITY, Wed. A basis for the settlement of the religious controversy in Mexico lias been agreed upon and cabled to the Pope at Rome for his approval. It is learned authoritativel3 r that the basis for the settlement has received the final approval of the President, Senhor Gil and the Roman Catholic emissaries, Archbishop Flores and Bishop Diaz. No changes in the existing religious law are involved, only in its interpretation.
