ACCLIMATISATION SOCIETY
COUNCIL MEETS AT PAEROA (From Our Oxen Correspondent) PAEROA, Wednesday. The Auckland Acclimatisation Society last year decided on a policy of holding four meetings each year in country districts. Meetings have already been held at Matamata, Hamilton. To Arolia and Thames. The council’s last meeting was held at Paeroa, when there was a large assemblage of sportsmen representing all parts of the district. The president, Mr. F. McKenzie, presided. The financial position of the society was shown as being most satisfactory. Delegates were appointed so that each club ■would have representation at the society’s meetings. It was recommended that the pegging out of stands by placing thereon the name of the shooter and the number of his licence should give exclusive right of use for the first three days of the season only. This would have the effect of preventing a shooter from monopolising a stand when not using it. A further sum of .Cloo was voted for the purchase of hawks’ feet. The local secretary, Mr. Leach, said each meeting of sportsmen was calculated to promote an advanced understanding between the various clubs. During the last 20 years he had never knonw acclimatisation to be more flourishing, nor the relationship of the clubs with the Auckland council to be more harmonious. __
