ELECTORAL SYSTEM
CHIEF OFFICER RETURNS FROM AUSTRALIA LAW OF BOUNDARIES A complete investigation of the Australian electoral system has been made by Mr. G. G. Hodgkins, chief electoral officer, Avho returned to New Zealand by the Marama yesterday. He said that he was principally interested in the law relating to the alteration of elecufral boundaries. During his \*isit Mr. Hodgkins said that he looked into the AviioJe system, including the Australian system of compiling the rolls and postal, preferential and absentee voting. “I am quite sure that we in New j Zealand are on the right track regardi ing the compilation of our electoral rolls,” he said. ! Mr. Hodgkins Avould not say defini itely that there Avould be any altera- ' tion in the system in New Zealand. He j may make a statement after he j reaches Wellington.
