SOCIAL TO MR. FLETCHER AT POINT CHEVALIER To wish Mr. J. S. Fletcher, M.P., success in the approaching session, and to do honour to himself and bis wife, a social was held by United Partv supporters in the Point Chevalier Hall last evening. Mr. P. E. Ross was the M.C. for the evening. After a fine programme of musical items, contributed by Mrs. Shade, Mrs. Scott, Mrs. McMillan, and Messrs. Dalton, Scott and Nicholson. Mr. W. J. McMillan introduced the guests of the evening. Little Miss Doreen Petry presented Mrs. Fletcher with a beautiful floral bouquet. Mr. Fletcher said he was going down to the Hous« determined to do all he could in the matter of placing New Zealand boys in employment, and on the land. He would advocate a scheme for the immediate relief of unemployment, and mentioned several works where large numbers could be absorbed. V* wa J say,” he concluded, “that i intend to honour to the full every pledge I made to you during the campaign. lam here as the representative for Grey Lynn, and I mean to be a true representative in every sense of tho word,” Mr- G. *C. Munns, M.P. for Roskill, and Mr. H. R. Jenkins, M.P. for Parnell, eulogised the work of Mr. Fletcher, and congratulated the district on having such a fine representative. Supper was then served, and a further hour spent in dancing.
