GOODS LANE AGAIN
UNINVITED GUEST FOUND IN HOUSE FINE OF £5 IMPOSED As far as the Police Court is concerned, Goods Lane is becoming the best known thoroughfare in Auckland. Five of the people who live there have been arrested during the last few days and a sixth appeared this morning. John Casey, aged 55, was charged with being found on the enclosed premises of Goods Lane. There was a second count that accused had broken a pane of glass valued at 25s in the same building. He pleaded not guilty. According to Sub-Inspector McCarthy Casey had been warned by the police, and escorted from the house, but had insisted on returning. It became necessary to arrest him. ■ Casey is believed to be doing no work and hanging about the streets,” added the sub-inspector. Police evidence was called. A fine of £5, in default one month’s imprisonment, was imposed. On the second charge Casey was ordered to make good the damage.
