League Rugby

HAMILTON Hamilton and Muntly played a drawn game (7 all) in the senior League match at Hinemoa Park on Saturday There was a fairly good “gallery.” The had it all over the local side when it came to combined back movements and their hookers had the best of the scrums. Hamilton was better at dribbling rushes, however, and individual play was good at times. J. Muir, as usual, played a sound game for Hamilton, while Monteith was a battler among the forwards. Paki and Smith were the pick of the visiting backs, the former being exceptionally nippy in the open. In the forwards, Timms and Trevetta put a lot of dash and determination into their work. Jones, the Huntly captain, was ordered off the field for disputing the referee’s decisions. HUNTLY The seniors drew with Hamilton, 7all, and it is to be regretted that the referee had occasion to order one of the Huntly players to the side-line during the game. It has to be admitted that the knights of the whistle must be upheld in their ardous duties, but some of Mr. Perry’s decisions were difficult to follow on Saturday last.. Huntly A downed Huntly B by 11 points to 0 under referee Tonga Alaliuta. Bossada (1), Broughton (2), and Knight converting one, was the scoresheet in a good game, in which the winners had to graft for their laurels. Broughton, Bossad, Knapper, and Bayley brothers were the best for Huntly A, while Yates, Ben Sam', Huia, T. Singer, and Gibson were solid toilers for the losers. The Huntly A colts turned the tables on their B clubmates by 14 points to nil. Robinson (1), J. Spiers j tl). C. Bryant (.1), W. Shaw (1), Spiers | converting one, was the score-sheet in i a fast and clean gjyne, which was very ! open. For the winners, Bryant, G. ; Alipi, Robinson. Spiers (backs) and 1 Collins, Shaw, and Cooper Awa (£or- ! wards) were solid workers, and for the j losers Lancaster (2) and Roy Singer I < backs), B. Lowen, F. Rayner, and ; Fairhurst were the pick. Collins, for the A’s, plays a good game, and is easily the pick of those playing in this competition. j j i
