SMITH'S EARLY HOP-OFF

FLIGHT TO ENGLAND WITH SAME CREW SOUTHERN CROSS READY SYDNEY, Sunday. Squadron-Leader Kingsford Smith tested the Southern Cross in a flight over Richmond, when the machine behaved well. The Governor-General, Lord Stonehaven, was on board, and was at the controls while the airplane was circling over the airdrome. Smith hopes to start before the next week-end on the flight to England, the first stage being a non-stop flight to Derby. The crew will be the same as before. SYDNEY, Today. Squadron-Leader Kingsford Smith made further tests of the Southern Cross this morning, and later FlightLieutenant Ulm announced: "Provided we are quite ready, we will leave on Thursday.”
