BRIGADE’S GOOD SAVE

FIRE IN WAIHI HOME SMOKE WARNS OCCUPANTS (From Our Own Correspondent) WAIHI, Today. An outbreak of fire occurred at 10.45 last night in a five-roomed house in Clarke Street, Waihi. The fire started in the sitting-room but the prompt arrival of the brigade prevented it spreading to the rest of the house, and a splendid save was effected. , The occupants, Mr. and Mrs. S. IT. Dickie, had retired for the night when the outbreak was discovered, through the smoke entering the bedroom. The cause of the fire is surmised to be a faulty chimney in the sittingroom. The house and contents are owned by Mrs. Dunstan. There is no insurance on either house or furniture.
