WHANGAREI NOTES
A meeting of the Winter Show Committee was held on Saturday. Satisfaction was expressed with the statement of accounts, which was the best the society had ever had. It showed a profit of £584 18s Sd, and the society now has a credit balance of £94 6s 4d, and no expense necessary till the Spring Show. At the Hospital Board meeting the Kamo Springs Hotel, Ltd., asked for occupation of their premises by July 1, which must be open to the public by that date. The board gave consent to the request. Last evening a concert by the Whangarei Municipal Band was put on the air, being relayed by telephone to IYA, Auckland. Tho Mayor, Mr. W. Jones, and Mr. D. A. McLean, spoke and expressed thanks to the broadcasting company for the relay to be made. At a farewell meeting tendered to A. Waterman, a new All Black, on Saturday evening, complimentary speeches were made by Mr. L. J. Brake, president of the Rugby Union, and Mr. Coots, president of the City Club.
