FAMILY REUNION
NEARLY 100 TAKE PART PIONEERS’ CELEBRATE (Special to THE SUN) NEW PLYMOUTH, Sunday. There was a remarkable reunion of nearly 100 members of one family at the diamond wedding of Mr. and Mrs. G. A. Adlam yesterday in New Plymouth, where they have been living since they left Oakura about eight years ago. There are altogether 13 children, 67 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Mr. Adlam was born in Westbury, Wiltshire, in April, 1841, and was brought up on. a farm where 100 acres were cropped and 100 cows were milked. When only IS he enlisted and fought in India. His regiment was sent to- New Zealand, and fought at the Gate Pa anu Te Ranga and, later in Taranaki. In ISG6 he retired from the army and began farming at Oakura. He was marreid three years later. Mr. Adlam was a member of tne Taranaki Education Board from 1888 to 1916, and also served on the Taranaki County Council for IS years.
