Great interest is being taken In the queen carnival now being held in aid of the North Auckland Regimental Band’s building fund. The initial week closed on Friday evening and resulted in Miss Waratah Wakelin (band queen) having a small lead over Miss Alma Tonkin (Friendly Societies’ queen). The voting was 960 and 909. respectively, each vote representing threepence. The amount recorded is t hus £23 7s 3d. With various activities arranged and strong committees and numerous supporters behind each queen it is expected that the objective of £2OO will be ea?-%y collected by the closing date, July 2i.
