POPULARITY OF OTAHUHU TRACK

THE popularity of the Otahuhu 1 Trotting Club's grass track, which is wisely opened for trainers prior to local fixtures, is very much in evidence at the present juncture, and while the advantage of this policy is beneficial to the various competitors, it is also a payable proposition for the club, which makes a small charge for the use of the grass circuit. Although the Auckland Club has not yet made a move in this direction, it is obvious that the policy will have to be adopted sooner or later, otherwise the metropolitan body will be sadly left. No harm would be done to the outside of the Epsom grass track, while the club would find it a good source of revenue. To keep the track practically under a glass case for the greater part of the year is not of any benefit to the organisation.
