NEARLY TWICE AS MANY MAY ENTER NOW CLAUSE OF ACT REJECTED (Australian and. N.Z. Press Association) Reed. 9.5 a.m. WASHINGTON, Friday. Nearly twice as many Britons yearly may enter the United States under the immigration quota after July 1. The Senate has refused to prevent the national origins clause of the Immigration Act of 1924 going into effect. The greatest changes will be in the quotas affecting Britain, Northern Ireland, Germany and Scandinavian countries. The British quota will be 65,721, against the old number of 34,007.
