SIMPLE HINTS ABOUT THE CARE OF BRUSHES
Nothing is more delightful tharr to ’ be ushered into a dressing room and L presented with clean hairbrushes when > visiting. ■ Brushes do get dirty so quickly, and although to all intents and purposes [ the hair is perfectly clean, a brush persists in telling a different tale. > Somewhere it was stated that hair- | brushes should be washed daily, but , this is nqt always possible. Also if " the brushes have polished wood handles, it is easy for the polish to •wear off unless taken care of and pro--3 perly protected. Soap and water are best for wash--3 ing brushes, and if, before being put j into the water, the backs and handles 2 are well covered with vaseline, it is l possible, to protect them. 3 After the brushes are washed and rubbed dry, wipe off the vaseline and £ the wood remains bright and polished r as when new. r An effective method of keeping the l bristles in good condition is to fold a 1 towel into a pad about four inches 2 wide and six or seven inches long. 3 On this slap the brush smartly * after it has been washed, until all the i water has been gently beaten out of it. After this the brush may be 3 wiped, and set in the air to dry. Too >• much heat should be avoided as this a causes the backs to crack and become s shabby.
