PURCHASE OF A HALL

LOANS BOARD REFUSES SANCTION COUNCIL SELLS OPTION Advice was received at last evening’s meeting of the Otahuhu Borough Council from the Local Government Loans Board that sanction to raise a loan to purchase the Otahuhu Public Hall was refused. The Mayor expressed his regret that this step was taken, and Messrs. J. Hunter and Grey expressed their approval of the loans board’s decision. A letter was later read from Mr. C. S. Arlington who offered, on behalf of a syndicate, the sum of £SO to purchase the option, held by the council to purchase the public hall for £3,000. The option paid by the council was for £SO. The offer was unanimouslv accepted.
