Education Council Feels Slighted

MR. ATMORE’S ABSENCE ABOLITION SUGGESTED (From Our Resident Reporter) WELLINGTON, Today. The Council of Education now sitting in Wellington is annoyed over the failure of the Minister of Education, the Hon. H. Atmore, to put in an appearance at its meeting. The council began its sittings yesterday afternoon, and the Minister, who is in the Auckland Province, will not be back in AVellington until Saturday morning, by which time the members of the council will have left for their homes. Many questions were addressed to the Director of Education, Mr. T. B Strong, as to the Minister's intentions but before Mr. Strong gave a reply the council went into committee. It was intimated in open council, however that the Minister had made no sur gestions as to the lines the council should proceed upon. It is understood the Minister is by no means enamoured of the conncil and is thinking rather seriously of abolishing it altogether. The council is a product of g*r James Parr’s regime.
