LURE FOR FALWASSER
OVERTURES FROM ENGLAND NORTHERN LEAGUE OFFERS Since S. Watene went over from j Rugby to League, there have been | rumours that another Manukau player, A. Falwasser, was contemplating a similar step. As far as playing in Auckland is concerned, Falwasser has denied that • he has any intention of turning to League, but he admits that lie has had cables from English sources asking him to play League for one of the North of England clubs. Some months ago, Falwasser was asked to quote his terms to play for an English club. The reply sent on his behalf was to ask for a sum between £450 and £SOO, plus steamer fares and expenses. Apparently, this was considered too high, and Falwasser heard nothing further of the matter until last week. He then re- ! ceived another cable, asking him to j name the lowest figure he would ac- j cept to go Home to play League. Falwasser replied to this cable as | requested. To that he has received no reply. Those who are in close j touch with the versatile Maori player j do not believe that he would now accept any offer to play League in | England, owing to private reasons.
