“FOR HER OWN GOOD”
GIRL SENT TO BORSTAL THREE CHARGES OF THEFT “She must go to the Borstal, and for three years if possible,” said Major Annie Gordon, probation officer, of Dorothy Bertha Alice Olive Gilbert, at the Police Court this morning. “It would be for her own good.” Gilbert, a domestic, aged 20, pleaded guilty on three charges of theft. The dates of the offences were given as May 19, May 25 and June 2, and the articles stolen were said to be three frocks of a total value of £B, and a portable gramophone' valued at £ll. According to Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., the girl had been leading a bad life lately. “She wants looking after,” he said. Gilbert was convicted and committed to the Borstal for a term not exceeding three years.
