HORSES FOR AUCKLAND
SATISFACTORY RESPONSE No fault can be found with the fine list of nominations received last week-end for the Auckland Club's forthcoming winter fixture, quality as well as quantity being a strong feature of the entrance list. As usual, the visiting contingent promises to be a strong one, but there will be sufficient local material to offer strbng opposition. A large number of those engaged have been showing good form recently, and the racing on June 22 and 24 should be right up to the high standard Epsom. The Square Gaiters Although the field in the tighter class trotting items is on the meagre side, class makes up for this defect and the two chief unhoppled heats will prove splendid contests. In the other square-gaited allotments the fields are numerically strong, while a good calibre of competition is engaged. « * » Fine Three-year-eJd Wah, the three-year-old trotting son of Peterwah. who showed splendid form at Hastings, is among the entrants in the looser class events for squaregaiters, and while his owner has given away a few seconds to get into the company, the Gisborne gelding "Will make his presence felt if started. Will be in Readiness Akenehi won at Cambridge in a manner that stamped her as a real mare and as she should be more forward when asked to step out at Alexandra Park, the grey daughter of Peter Moko will be a thorn in the side of her rivals. * * * Peak of His Form No trotter has been showing mop consistent form in his class of lap than Western Voyage, who after putting up solid races at Dunedin, won a Addington. If the son of First , Vo £ makes the voyage North he will have a lot of friends. • • * Not Done With Yet -Consistency has been a big with Direct Action this season ana 1 his last two attempts he was beaten a head for first place, a J°. UI L lucky to lose the second up.
