Closing (juoiatoin, at to-day'a m'.d-tlaycall were:—

SOUTHERN EXCHANGES

Press Association Sales made in the South on Saturday morning include the following: Wellington.—Dalgety (Melbourne register), £ls ss; New Zealand Breweries, £3 32s 6d; Hume Pipe, ISs 3d; inscribed Stock, 1939, 4J per cent., £99 17s 6d. Dunedin.—New Zealand Breweries, £3 12s 6d; Goldsbrough Mort, £2 10s 9d. LONDON STOCK EXCHANGE NOT AFFECTED BY ELECTION ( UnitecL Service) LONDON, Saturday. The stock markets have so far not reacted to the Conservative defeat to anything like the extent anticipated, which is discomforting to the bearish speculators. The Stock Exchange was not flurried even when the incomplete election returns suggested the possibility of an absolute Labour majority. Deals are being temporarily held up, rather than prices collapsing, owing more to the continuation of industrial disputes than to any election Influences. The wool position remains most unsatisfactory. Prices generally still down and manufacturers are pucchasing only the bare necessities. Considerable stocks are still held in Bradford and elsewhere.
