AT DIXIELAND Dixieland was delightfully gay on Saturday evening, when a happy throng spent the evening dancing to the excellent music supplied by Mr. Harry Xeilson and his orchestra. Mrs. Mervyn Reed, who wore a prettily sequined frock of sea-foam green chiffon. Mrs. Mark Davis, who wore a black georgette gown embossed in silver thread. Mrs. Champion, whose frock of silver sequins featured motifs of rose flowers. Mrs. McCrystal, whose frock was of black georgette and Chantilly lace. Mrs. W. C. Whitney, who wore a briar rose georgette frock inset with silver lace. Mrs. Selwyn Robertson, who wore a blush pink taffeta frock relieved with diamante. Mrs. Ivan Eccles, whose frock was of rose pink taffeta and satin. Mrs. Eve Bentley, in a gown of black ring velvet and gold satin. Miss Dolly Vaile, whose frock of gold lace dipped to ankle-length. Miss Jean Macindoe, who wore a japonica rose ring velvet frock made in draped lines, GREEN FRILLS Miss Audrey Walton, in an ankle length gown-of frilled absinthe green taffeta. Miss Rita Cornaga, who was wearing an ivory chiffon gown sequined in silver. Miss M. Tiarks, whose frock of cherry red georgette was inset with silver lace. Miss Dot Fenton, wearing a white taffeta gown made with a petalled hem relieved with pink. Miss Rona Fenton, who wore a cherry' red taffeta hemmed with gold tulle. Miss Darling, whose frock of phlox pink georgette was panelled with silver lace. Miss Beech Hardie Neil, who wore a rose-coloured frock of georgette. SILVER LACE OVER SATIN Miss Aiisa Lewis, whose ankle length frock of silver cobweb lace was worn over absinthe green satin beaute. Miss Rene Woods, who wore a period gown of gentian blue printed taffeta with butterfly bow at the back. Miss Edna Gill, whose frock of buttercup yellow had a french tucked corsage with long flared skirt hand painted in pastel shades. Miss Cummings, who was in a frock of gold tissue. Miss G. Leatherbarrow, wearing a gown of black egyptian lame. « Miss Edna Monks, whose frock was of deep marigold georgette. Miss D. McPhail, who was gowned in silver lame and ivory satin beaute. Miss May MacAuley, whose frock of lame and georgette was of deep orchid shade. Miss Yvonne Arlen, wearing black chiffon velvet with deep decolletage. Miss Dallas Beehan, who wore a smart black lace frock over palest flesh pink chiffon. AN ENGAGEMENT The engagement is announced of Dorothy Mavis, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. Rogers, of Kerepeehi, Hauraki Plains, to Edward Archibald, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. E. T. Malloch, of Hokitika, and now a member of the Government Audit Staff. Auckland.
