DR. CLEARY JOURNEYS TO TE AROHA TRIP IN RAIN Already known as “the flying bishop,” Dr. H. W. Cleary, Roman Catholic Bishop of Auckland, made a trip by air to Te Aroha yesterday afternoon. Dr. Cleary took the flight to give him time to officiate at a ceremony at the Onehunga Roman Catholic Church in the morning, and yet arrive at Te Aroha for the laying of a foundation stone in the afternoon. The Auckland Aero Club's Moth, piloted by the club instructor, Major G. A. C. Cowper, took oft' from the airdrome at 11.50 a.m. and arrived at Te Aroha at 12.45 p.m. Major Cowper landed on a field about 2| miles from the township. He took off again a few minutes later and arrived back at Mangere again after an absence of only two hours five minutes from the airdrome.
