WELCOMED TO BENCH

MR. G. N. MORRIS, S.M. (From Our Own Correspondent) WHANGAREI, Today. When the Whangarei Magistrate's Court opened the newly-appointed magistrate, Mr. G. N. Morris, S.M., made his first appearance. This was the result of Mr. J. H. Luxford, S.M., being indisposed. Before proceedings commenced Mr. Carruth welcomed the new magistrate. He said they were all sorry that Mr. Luxford was leaving Whangarei, as he had made himself popular with everyone. However, he welcomed Mr. Morris and hoped he would carry on in a similar manner. Mr. Morris thanked the Bar for the expressions of confidence, and said he was pleased to hear them speak so highly of Mr. Luxford.
