Support for Waipa Clubs Extra Day
TRAINING HOURS (Special to THE SUN) TE AWAMUTU, Saturday. A meeting of the Waipa Racing Club took placo on Friday, Mr. A. S. Wallace presiding. There were also present Messrs. J. P. O'Sullivan, W. Alexander, S. A. Empson, T. G. Martin and J. G. Wynyard (secretary). The secretary said the Department ©C Internal Affairs refunded £250 under section 8 of the Finance Act. A letter was received from trainers G. Paul, F. E. Loomb and W. Stone, requesting that the course be kept open for training on Saturday afternoons. An informal meeting of the committee had considered the application and declined it. A further letter from Mr. Loomb .asked for alteration of rules 5, 6 and 0, which prevented horses being galloped on the grass track except on certain mornings. Mr. Alexander said the ploughed track was open every morning and the grass on three days a week. Mr. Stone said there was real need for the plough track each afternoon during the present unsettled weather. The chairman reminded Air. Stone that the trainers had agreed to the present rules. After further discussion it was decided to make the plough track available for every weekday that weather conditions permitted from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on three alternate days weekly, and from 7 a.m. to .1 p.m. on the other three week-days \intil July 31. The secretary reported having made application for a second totalisator permit, which application had been placed on record. Mr. H. Rothery had advised the president that the Auckland District Committee had recommended the Waipa Racing Club for one permit. The chairman said a circular had been issued by the secretary seeking support of representations to have a claming Bill introduced during the coming session to permit telegraphing o' investments to the totalisator, and also the publication of dividends. It was decided to forward the petition to the Racing Conference for submission to the Minister and Cabinet. The Auckland District Committee advised that Waipa has been recommended for Saturday, December 14. tor its next race meeting. The secretary of the Auckland Country Racing Clubs’ Association asked the club to consider the question of restricting the issue of complimentary tickets.
