Barton, S.M., held an inquest concerning the death of "William Daniell, who was killed by a train at a crossing on May 24. Evidence was that deceased continued on to the line despite the fact that all signals were working and the train was blowing a continuous whistle. He was absorbed, it appeared, in filling or cleaning his pipe. The verdict absolved the train driver from any blame whatever. —P.A.
